Notably, rs10994359 near the ANK3 gene showed the strongest correlation (P=0.001) and was also associated with harm avoidance scores. These findings suggest a role for SLC6A4 in anxiety disorders and indicate potential links between genetic variation near ANK3 and anxiety-related personality traits. BDNF

In conclusion, BDNF levels are generally lower in anxiety disorders, particularly OCD, and are influenced by sampling methods. Further research is needed to confirm BDNF’s potential as a biomarker for anxiety disorders.
